“Indie Art”

3. Indie Art

There’s a book making way in cyberspace
It’s like the spades of ace
And it’s what makes the news
So can you tell me what’s new?

You can self-publish your art, go all indie
It’s the only way to remain artistically free
‘Cause all big business all over the country
They only care about money

Bloody wankers can shout and scream
Try to crush your every dream
And you want to break away
And do everything your way

So if you want to be entertained
Think about an indie name
They know how to play the game
Nothing will be the same

“And Coloured Hue”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 09/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

2. And Coloured Hue

Drawing a simple sketch of you
Though writing is what I want to do
Painting you with pencils makes me bored
I’d rather paint you a picture with words

You love, it can ignite a sky of stars
And tender to me hope from afar
I want to be smothered in the warmth of your care
And be forever lost in your midnight hair

I live, I breath, I work, I do it all for you
And for you alone, this is so very true
Your love sustains me, heals my soul
Makes me believe that I can see all my goals

And your soft touch, your gentle kiss
Could there be anything better than this?
I am almost at a loss for what I want to say
You brighten up my darkest of days

So I paint a picture just for you
Both in words and coloured hue
You mean more to me than any wealth
You mean more to me than myself

“Morning Coffee”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 09/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

1. Morning Coffee

I was sitting at the table, early
When down the hallway you came
And you looked at me
Carrying a cup with my name
You wanted morning coffee

I looked over and could see
Your robe hung open and about your shoulders
And you sure looked very sleepy
But the warmth in your eyes smoulders
With the idea of morning coffee

Well, babe, I have what you need
Over there in the coffee pot
Sit down; take in the smell of the steam
I’ll give you what I got
A hot cup of morning coffee

A little milk, something sugary?
Yeah, that’s how we like it
From our weariness, it’ll set us free
Just relax, don’t you fret
I’m pouring you some morning coffee

I see you’re eyes glow with glee
You’ll be bright-eyed and bushy tailed soon
And you don’t have to thank me
Let’s go back to our bedroom
After we have our morning coffee

“Remaining Free”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 08/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

25. Remaining Free

Over all these years
I tried to do my best
But after all these tears
I’m finally heading West

There’s a city with my name
And I’ll go there, I think
See if I can find a change
Beyond the boarder’s brink

I only do my own thing
No master or boss above me
Thus I’m able to do anything
And able to remain free

There’s no need to criticise
My methods are not your own
I do what’s right before my eyes
And I’ll go wherever I roam

Freedom and artistic control
Are all that I’ll ever need
If I am to ever accomplish my goal
Oh yeah, I also need coffee

“Searching”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 08/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

24. Searching

I went out to find what I couldn’t see
There was something missing from me
I thoughts were wondering
As I went out a-searching
Searching for something new
Looking for you
And I went searching…

I ventured down along the avenues
Beyond all the things I one thought I knew
But my mind grew cloudy in time
What was it that I had to find?
So I tried to think of what to do
But my thoughts turned to you
So I went searching…

There were many wrong turns to take
Sometimes I felt it was all a big mistake
But I had to carry onward
Got to keep moving forward
For it was all that I knew
I had to get back to you
Yeah, I went searching…

What was there left to see in the end
When the path is hidden way behind the bend?
Within me, love was overflowing
For your memory kept me going
It was all that got me through
And I hope you’ll be here, too
I went searching…

“Through Midnight Gloom”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 08/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

23. Through Midnight Gloom

I saw her looking over at me
Eyes mischievous, yet so sweet
Wearing a flowery sun dress
Her long dark hair all in a mess

Oh, now what shall I sing of her?
For she stole my heart forever
And I don’t really mind at all
I’ll answer her every call

I think she’s always on my brain
Nothing has seemed the same
My every thought turns to her
But sometimes I tempt her ire

We may argue, refuse to talk
But it’s after a good long walk
That we make up for what we said
And we take it all straight to bed

Whenever she gives me that look
I put down my pen and notebook
As she takes me through midnight gloom
She softly leads me to our room

“What’s The Future?”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 08/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

22. What’s The Future?

There’s an idiot shouting on the radio
Telling people where they’re to go
But he’ll force others to go with the flow
When the path of truth is one he don’t know

Where’s the future? It’s a place under attack
Where’s the future? Ruled by the fanatic

In the Capital, they pass new laws and bills
It’s becoming more than a triumph of the wills
They don’t realise that their words can kill
It’s become a land of no fun and no thrills

Where’s the future? They can rape you of your rights
Where’s the future? Make your days as black as nights

Out in the world, hope begins to fail
And in time, thought grow stale
You hear the shouts of a radical creed
No one seems to care as evil sews its seed
Have the people forgotten how to be free?
I now wonder – will they lose their humanity?

Where’s the future? I don’t think anyone will understand
Where’s the future? It’s a broken promise for a broken land

“You Make Me Feel So Right”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 07/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

21. You Make Me Feel So Right

Sometime I haven’t got a clue
Then my thoughts torn to you
And I can’t help but write
A little verse or a song
Please don’t tell me this is wrong
When you make me feel so right

Lovely eyes and a crooked smile
Dimpled cheeks of the cutest style
Yeah, you’re a beautiful sight
And I forget all of my cares
Due to this brilliant affair
Oh, you make me feel so right

Your love flows throughout me
And I don’t know what to do
But you can set me free
And I just love talking about you

Out in the back, sitting by the fire
Having you here lifts my spirits higher
Yeah, it’s floating away like a kite
And the radiance of your spirit
Make me lose the past and not regret it
‘Cause you make me feel so right

Your soft touch or a gentle kiss
I’m lost in a state of utter bliss
And it’s something I don’t want to fight
I’ll think of you all the time
I’m yours, you are mine
Baby, you make me feel so right

“Before The End Or So”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 07/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

20. Before The End Or So

Pipe smoke floating about
And it’s getting cold out
My hands are freezing
Can’t believe the words I’m speaking
And there’s nothing new to say
Maybe I should just go away?
But what can I tell you, love,
Where there’s so much high above?

I’m living in a constant pain
And despite it, there is no gain
I think that saying was a lie
But all I can really do is try
And move on past it, it I’m able
Crawl to the end of that table
And at times, I just want to give up
I’m running out of time and luck

I can look at all this bad
But I see past it, I’m not mad
When I’m making the most of what I’ve got
Like the pains I’ve been given and bought
But all I can do is live and let live
‘Cause there’s so much left to give
And enjoy before the end or so
There’s a lot left that I need to know

“Welcome To Heaven, Welcome To Skye”

Posted in Songs & Poetry on 07/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow

19. Welcome To Heaven, Welcome To Skye

Grey clouds up in the air
A landscape green and fair
With small boats in the harbour
Preparing for a change in the weather
Welcome to heaven, welcome to Skye

Green grass over stony hills
Flowers adding certain frills
As a light rain comes falling down
Over the rolling, blessed ground
Welcome to heaven, welcome to Skye

And a fog comes rolling in
Misty clouds on a gentle wind
With the smell of the sea, so calm
And she holds my heart in her palm
Welcome to heaven, welcome to Skye

Gazing out when the day is done
But the clouds drown out the sun
And the air feels so cool and sweet
The rocky shores under my weary feet
Welcome to heaven, welcome to Skye

There can be nothing better than this
A small bit of land filled with bliss
An isle shrouded in mist and mystery
The perfect place for her and for me
Welcome to heaven, welcome to Skye
