Posted in Songs & Poetry on 22/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow17. Keep Me Going
With my two hands
I build up my dreams
One at a time, no more
For I know what they mean
To me, they give me hope
Provide me with steam
To keep me going
I have no master
There’s only me
And these words I write
Nothing more to see
But I know in my heart
They set me free
And keep me going
I try my best
But no one understands
Why I do what I do
But I’ve got a plan
So don’t you worry
I’ve got to make a stand
To keep me going
Take your place
Here we go again
On this path of the unknown
Out into the dark and rain
And once I’m done
Nothing will be the same
And that’ll keep me going

“What Do You Say?”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 22/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow16. What Do You Say?
I may not have a lot of wealth
I may not have the best of health
But what I do have is pure and true
And that is my undying love for you
Though the clampdown is hard
It can never overcome this heart
For it beats for you, and you alone
With you, I’d love to build a home
Where the children play in the yard
And laying on the grass, counting the stars
I love you more than I love my own life
And I’d be honoured if you’d be my wife
Amore Consumato has nothing on you
Just looking at you makes me feel like new
And I can hardly help myself anymore
Could I even make it across this floor?
For you, I’d do all in my power if I can
To do my best for you, though I’m a simple man
And I’ll be loyal to you all of my days
Tell me now, honey – what do you say?

“Workers Unite”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 21/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow15. Workers Unite
There are businessmen raking in the dough
And guess what? What do you know?
They’re screwing over the working man
And no one seems to care or understand
There’s power in a union – if you have one
But what can you do when things are done
That takes away the workers rights and pay
So that it can profit the boss every day?
I’ve seen a boss take away the holiday bonus
Because they think that they own us
And they take away the pay for vacation -
The reward for hard work and satisfaction
The only way to combat this stuff
Is to rebel and tell them we had enough
And demand under a common goal
If we are to save our families and souls
There’s power in a union, it’s true
And that’s what we’ve got to do
Unite and help each other, those in need
Workers uniting to overcome selfish greed

“Taking A Vow”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 21/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow14. Taking A Vow
I’ve taken a vow of poverty
To gain power over money
I got my material gains
Though they can be a pain
But material things don’t matter
They can’t make life better
What matters are those I love
‘Cause they’re who I think of
I don’t believe in being rich
To be wealthy would be a bitch
For it leads to greediness and lust
That kind of life would be a bust
I’m barely keeping my head
Above water, so in my stead
I need a brand new memory
To help me become fully free
I place all my hope and dreams
In love – that simple little scheme
And I’ll try my best to keep the faith
Until I’m gone some future day

“Humble & Meek”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 21/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow13. Humble & Meek
I’ve been humble and meek
And yet I’ve been vain
I try my best to seek
My dreams in the rain
And I do it all the time
Oh, baby, will you throw me a line?
A broken promise
A falling star
You’re as cold as ice
Whether near or far
What can I say about us now?
But does it really matter anyhow?
I’d rather buy the cow
Though I can get the milk for free
What more can I tell
When you’re all I could see
Love will come and love will go
I’d do anything for you, you got to know
A little poem for thought
A song in my heart
I got what I got
I’ve played my part
And I don’t know what I’d do
If I am to live my life without you

“The Morning Fog”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 21/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow12. The Morning Fog
The morning fog rolls in fast
I wonder how long it’ll last
It’s so thick I can’t even see
Not the fence, not even the trees
It flows over the land and lingers
Seems to stretch out with ghost-like fingers
Through the hedgerows and the fields
On a path that doesn’t seem to yield
And the sun tries to break through
Casting the fog is a different hue
And it begins to retreat, melting away
Revealing a sky of bluish-grey
And all the frost upon the grass
Glimmers like crystals en mass
But it too begins to disappear
Whilst the song of the lark is near
Soon the fog is all but a memory
No longer can it be seen to me
But it’s the start of a lovely day
I have a feeling, things will go my way

“Good Luck Blues”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 21/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow11. Good Luck Blues
Going all over the country
Looking for that heavenly manna
Where life can be sustained
On a perfect long lost idea
Let’s mix it up, with the boys and girls
Let’s mix it up, all over the world
In the country there’s a rumble
Qué se puede hacer de ella?
You better pack up your things
Before it all goes super nova
Let’s mix it up, with the boys and girls
Let’s mix it up, all over the world
People have to survive
Keep hope in your soul
And when you make it through the night
You’ll realise life is cool
People have to survive
Keep hope in your soul
And when you make it through the night
You’ll realise life is cool
Let’s mix it up, with the boys and girls
Let’s mix it up, all over the world

“A Message To The Lovely Blonde”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 20/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow10. A Message To The Lovely Blonde
Darling
I’ve cared about you for a while now
Darling
You always give me that sense of wow
I close my eyes at night and see you
The love I feel inside is so true
And I want to spend all my days
With you, so let’s sail away
Darling
I think I’m falling helplessly in love
Darling
You better pray to the Powers above
Because I can’t hardly walk
I’m so nervous I can barely talk
But you’re beautiful inside and out
You strip away all my fear and doubt
Darling
You may not always understand
Darling
I’m trying my best to be a good man
You make this old life feel so new
I’d do anything in the world for you
My pain and tears are lost in the past
I think my heart is beating way too fast
Darling
I like to marry you one day
Darling
Tell me, what do you say?
Though these times may seem a bit hard
We’ll happily settle down with kids in the yard
This is my message to the lovely blonde
Who enchanted me with her magic wand

“It All Seems The Same”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 19/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow9. It All Seems The Same
What’s my name? I don’t know
But I’ll stick with Joe Glasgow
Oh, what’s in a name?
It all seems the same
The truth used to be the light
Now day’s becoming night
And by the campfire’s flames
It all seems the same
You’re always trying to be cool
What you do is don’t follow rules
And whilst that seems insane
It all seems the same
Do just what it is you want to
And in the little things you see the truth
What’s the difference between obscurity and fame
It all seems the same
I may not know where I’m going
But I bet it will be snowing
Yeah, whilst it seems so lame
It all seems the same

“Surrendering To Fate”
Posted in Songs & Poetry on 19/11/2009 by Joe Glasgow8. Surrendering To Fate
I may not be famous or great
Just because I’m not making money
Doesn’t mean I’m lazy
I don’t believe in war and hate
Violence is never the solution
And to avoid any confusion
I’m only surrendering to Fate
I’m mostly early, rarely late
To get what I do done
And I give it my all, my last lung
It’s a work of art I create
And just because I don’t lift a shovel
Doesn’t mean I’m evil
I’m only surrendering to Fate
There’s a lot on the plate
As I believe in being free
And I believe in equality
So don’t become irate
And because I believe in this
It doesn’t make me a Communist
I’m only surrendering to Fate
You can ask your questions, mate
Ask what the music means
As night falls upon the dreams
But there’s no need to wait
You may wonder what I’m doing
But I got places to be going
I’m only surrendering to Fate
