The wealthy man tried to tell me that money
Was going to make me be happy and set me free
But I knew that wasn’t so and I just had to go
So I wandered in and out of many places
But no one seemed to show me a friendly face
So I guess I’ll have to live with the pain

Now Katie said to me to watch myself
To make sure I didn’t get wrapped up in wealth
And I listened to her, I will forever
Cos I’d rather have what I need than what I want
Even if I don’t ever grow old and gaunt

I was sitting alone one night with these blues
And I couldn’t seem to stop thinking of you
